GMIT students get the grand tour

One of the things that I love is seeing students come to the restaurant and guesthouse. Recently we had students from GMIT visit and they were given the grand tour. Warren McElhone, our Restaurant Manager, showed them around the guesthouse including the bedrooms while Glen our Headchef gave them a taste, excuse the pun, of what it is like in a restaurant kitchen.

They also got to see around the gardens which was great because not too many people know that we produce some of our own ingredients. I have always been a big advocate of using good local produce and we have some fantastic local producers but it is also nice to grow some of your own food. A real personal touch!

The students then enjoyed some lunch in the restaurant as well, so we sent them on their way well feed.

I loved my time lecturing in the Fermanagh College and seeing students come to the restaurant is fantastic. Here at MacNean House and Restaurant we are passionate about passing on our cookery knowledge. That is why I am so excited by the Neven Maguire Cookery School  here at the restaurant. So far the courses have been great fun and the feedback we have been getting has been excellent as well as humbling.

I mentioned Glen Wheeler above and over the coming months I hope to introduce you to all the team here at MacNean House and Restaurant. Glen is our Headchef and he has been with us for over ten years. He has done stages in some of the most prestigious restaurants in the world and is as passionate as I am about making every service as perfect as we can for our guests.
