What a great week we all had at the National Ploughing Championships. I have just about caught my breath! I was based in the Farmers Journal tent for three days and I really think they have one of the best stands at the Championships.
I write every week for the Journal and it is great to be associated with them because they do a fantastic job. There was around 80,000 people at the Championships each day which is staggering when you think about it.
I did three demos a day and I thought the interaction from the crowd as always was just brilliant. I had a special guest the first day when President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina called in to see us. What a lovely couple and it was great to meet them again.
I think the National Ploughing Championships are one of the very best events in Ireland. It is great family day out and good wholesome fun. Farming is at the centre of so many communities and of course the farmers make it all possible and this is a fantastic three days.
It was great to see so many excellent exhibitors and as I always say the produce we are lucky enough to have here in Ireland is second to none.
I am going to share two recipes with you today and they are only possible because of the great produce we have.
The first is a delicious beef thai curry that is really very tasty. I use rump beef from cattle that my Uncle Frankie Maguire rears and I have to say it really is top quality. The other dish I am sharing is a chocolate brownie with a fudge sauce. I cooked both of these at the Ploughing Championships.
I hope you enjoy and as always happy cooking!
