It has been a brilliantly busy time of late and today (Wednesday) is such an exciting day with the launch of my new TV series in Dublin. Simply Better Dunnes Stores are the sponsors of the show and I am so excited about the series – Neven’s Italian Food Trails. It was such a thrill to film and I had so much fun and I really think you are going to love the dishes and also the fabulous people that we met along the way.
The programme airs on Thurs October 5 at 7pm on RTE One and I just can’t wait to see it all come together on the screen. And to get us all in the mood I am sharing a wonderful recipe for Ragú Ala Bolognese at the end of this blog – so make sure you read to the end!

The National Ploughing Championships is without doubt one of the best few days of the year. It gets underway tomorrow (Tuesday) in Tullamore Co Offaly and goes on until Thursday of this week. I absolutely love the show and once again I will be in the Farmers Journal Tent. I love writing and working with the Farmers Journal and have been doing so for ten years and this is also my tenth year at the Ploughing as well.
I have three demos each day, at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. It is a great event for food and farming and there is certainly something for everyone. The very best of Irish food is showcased and it is brilliant to be back there again and as always I am sure I will meet some fantastic people; I always do at the Ploughing.
I have shared two recipes that I will be making over the course of the three days in this blog – a gorgeous Striploin Steak with Sauce Diane and a fabulous MacNean Cheesecake. Happy cooking everyone.
CHARACTERS… You always meet great characters at the Ploughing – of all ages!
Here are a few dishes that I shared on the Marian Finucane Show this weekend. It’s always great to talk to Marian and she has a real passion for food. These recipes are vegetarian but not just for vegetarians! These are definitely dishes that everyone should try and I promise you will love them. First up is a gorgeous dish using spicy potato. Enjoy!
It is that time of year again when the kids are going back to school and as a parent of very lively twins I know that it is important that their lunch boxes are not only filled with tasty food but also with food that will give them lots of energy! Here are a few suggestions for some simple lunch boxes and also a few ideas for lunch boxes that might take a little longer to prepare.
WRAP IT UP… Try a tasty wrap in your child’s lunchbox.
I love the Marian Finucane Show and had a great time this morning talking to Marian about all things BBQ. We have some of recipes from the show on today’s blog including the gorgeous Satay Prawn Sticks with Griddled Limes and a beautiful warm steak salad. And keep an eye on this blog over the next few days when we will be sharing more summer sizzlers.
I am delighted to be ambassador for the Dunnes Stores Simply Better range. Meeting some of the producers for the fantastic produce included in the range has been a real pleasure. I know I always say it but a chef’s job is made easier when there is brilliant ingredients on offer and that is certainly the case here. Dunnes Stores has released a ‘Cook with Neven’ magazine using some of the Simply Better range and you can pick it up in selected stores online or download it here.
Here is one of the recipes from the magazine, Pulled Corn Fed Chicken Tacos. Make sure you check out the rest!
It’s the 4th of July so two American inspired dishes for you to enjoy on the blog today. Chicken wings and monster cookie ice cream sandwiches! Enjoy everyone!!
Buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese dip
These American-style crisp chicken pieces are the perfect laid-back party food to share and they’re great for a movie night. It’s the seductively high ratio of skin to meat that makes these wings taste so good, but there are two key steps that ensure extra-crisp wings: letting them sit at room temperature evens the cooking time, and a quick dredge in the seasoned cornflour, plus a few extra minutes in the fryer so that they’re really golden brown, transforms into a crunchy coating when fried.
FINGER LICKIN… I just love these Buffalo Chicken Wings. Perfect for so many occasions.
